Thanks Gary, oh aye knitting a nice arran pullover at this very moment by the fireside wi me tights rolled down..hot sittin ere, tek another log off the fire arthur........just a bit of experimentation really but I think I prefer a dubbed body although a nice quill or even just a single coloured thread body is enuff.

Very nice indeed.I'd be tempted to do some more with varnished bodies just to see how they look.

Thanks Thedeadskunk, not a bad idea and would give it more of a quill look with a couple of coats so I'll have to experiment.

I'll have 6 off, of your varnished spiders please, also can you wind the thread through the hackle as you're tying the hackle in, just to make it SKUNKPROOF
As I'll be fishing a team of 3 on the big Midlands waters; on a #5weight next May-June onwards.
So drop me a PM with a price for 6 flies plus Post and packing. I'm in no rush, as shan't be used until the aforementioned months.

I'll see what I can do Paul, won't promise anything though as I know what I'm like but I'll certainly give it a go. I've just put a couple of coats over the thread and it's quite a nice effect, obviously darkens the tones a good bit, I think with a brown furnace hen hackle it would look quite effective.
