Default Badger cape

Im looking at having a go at small stream and river (the swift and Dove) next season and in the process of tying up a few river patterns.
Im looking at adding to my collection of genetic capes for dry's and currently have a Whiting red game, medium grey dun and a grizzle.
Im looking at adding one more but cant make my mind up what one to buy.
Probably either a badger, golden badger or a furnace.
I can only afford the one so any thoughts on what would come in more useful.

Personally, I would go for the golden badger. Ideal for grey dusters and other small dry fly patterns.

Whiting Capes come in halves - why not buy 2 half-capes and get greater variety. There are a heck of a lot of feathers on a half-cape, which is exactly what I did for a golden badger last year when stocks were scarce.

Jolla

I did think of doing that but I can get a full cape from Lathkill for the same price as a half cape. Everyone seems to sell half capes for about £35 which is what Lathkill do a full cape for

Then sub the medium dun or the grizzle where you would use silver badger and buy a golden badger to give you more options. You could always mark a medium dun hackle with permanent marker around the stalk to create the silver badger effect easily using what you have now.

Have a look here, good capes and good prices. I have bought a few capes from them and find their service very good.
