If you are new to fly tying go for either Peter Gathercoles "Fly tying bible or "Fly tying for beginners" depending on your level,

As an intermediate to advanced tier then the book recommended above is good but limited to Irish patterns. You could also look at Scholmeyer and Leesons benchside reference book for all the techniques ever thought of. It is a reference book but is fantastically thorough and easy to understand.

If none of those take your fance have a look at Paul Morgans site, he's always got some good stuff

Cheers

dabhoy - Probably looking for something that has a good selection of wet flies as these are the only flies I ever really follow the patterns for.

Sorry, I didnt read your thread properly

The Malone book is very good, well written and lots of detail but for the sheer volume of patterns Pat O'Reillys Trout flies of Ireland and Stan Headley's Trout flies of Scotland take some beating.

Cheers
