Default Jig Hook Patterns

I just for some jig hooks with the intention of tying some nymphs for the river.
Are there specific patterns.
Am I right in thinking these are designed to fish point up so would normal patterns be upside down?

Probably not exactly what you're looking for but this is my favourite balanced leech tied on a jig hook.

Hi there,

I don't post much on this forum, but have a pretty cute jig pattern, but rather for stillwaters. I reckon it should work on rivers too.

Here's a pic:

Thanks

That pattern is very similar to a damsel I tie.

N, if you can get a copy of this months (December)Flyfishing and Flytying magazine there's an article with a number of good nymph patterns on jig hooks....and yes, they are designed to fish point-up to reduce catching the bottom.

Major tie format for Steelhead fishing; folks run these under a float. VERY effective way to fish. Not many folks use these for straight 'fly fishing.'
