The embroidery store is a source of many an appealing material for a very competitive price. This pink thread is a major Grayling treat.



It looks OK when dry...



...but once wet it has the look & feel of a real maggot.

use a lot of embroidery thread on nymphs-gives a nice effect-nice on polystickles, too!

Jindra welcome to 'Murica. (Tongue in cheek) You have no idea how many of us shop at those kinds of stores for really 'cool' fly tieing goodies. Soooo close to the 'fly shop' stuff ... but at half the price.

Do the fish know? Me thinks not.

Yet besides the very competitive pricing there remain some subtle differences between the fly shop and embroidery shop: such as the look in the face of the shopping assistant when you find it necessary to lick the thread to see it wet

It's OK if you are using embroidery silk,but the mercerised cotton isnt so good, There is a sewing shop in York that sells all the Gutterman stuff metalic and pearly, worth a visit if you are around there, easker1
