Default Want to start tying my own.

I want to start tying my own flies, so was thinking starting off with some grayling bugs for Xmas.

I’ve only got a vice, which makes things a bit difficult as there are no birds or furry animals in the house that I can make use of material wise.

The government does quite a bit of sewing and dress making so can definitely borrow some nice small sharp scissors.

Now I need a bobbin holder, thread, whip finishing tool, Kamasan B110 size 12 hooks, 2,5mm gold beads, lead wire, pink dubbing and cement/glue.

Any advice on where I can source the above items or similar, new or used. I am on a budget, credit crunch and all so no Mark Petitjean, otherwise it will be beans on toast and white lightning for Xmas instead of whiskey and turkey!

Cheers,
Johan

Hello mate,

White Lightning is not too bad. Does the trick !! It'll get you through Christmas nicely!!

Check out ebay, bought loads of fly tying stuff from there. You'll get some bargains.

Tying your own flies is great. Once you start you'll become addicted.

Good luck,

Nick.
