Default A couple of hogs

After the success of the Grey Monkey Dabbler this summer in Orkney I thought a hog and half hog might be worth a shot..

I really like the one on the sedge hook and think the palmer may just add that little more to it instead of just the scrubbed up sf.
Good to see some flies from you again Alex and hope theres more in the offing.

Aye well, maybe. To be honest, I culled the boxes before the season just past as I had too many flies doing the same job. The last thing I intend to do is start making stuff for the sake of it.

Aye, and just about finished too. Maybe something wee for the caenis.

Here's a wee Kate variant you might like. That and the Grey Monkey Dabbler did the lions share of the damage for me during the day on every loch last year..

Yep, everyone had a Kate of one type or another on the cast most of the time. I had that one as it's a wee bit peachy, Jim had a standard, muddler or green tailed and Stewarty had a skinny or a gold lite-brite head one. It did make us wonder why we'd tied all the Orkney specials up. We were just lucky that week I suppose.

We'll call it ginger, although it was originally dyed fiery brown but lightens up at the roots. WOI? Dunno what you're getting at mate.
