Default 1st attempt at a kate mclaren dabbler

Struggling with the bronze mallard any tips? Was watching a couple of videos on youtube and it looks a doddle
Any tips or c+c appreciated thanks

I usually just rip about three quarters of an inch off the feather (getting the fibres together first then get them at right angles to the feather stem) then holding the feather stem above the bit your'e tearing off with one hand and hold tightly the selected strip of bronze mallard with the other and pull down and away very swiftly and sharply (you'll find it helps a bit if you get rid of all the c*"p below the selected strip of BM first). You should have the strip of bronze mallard in your hand with the tips still in line. All I do next is fold this in half (some people fold it in thirds but I fold in half) then place this folded BM section on top of the shank and catch in the edge of it with the thread and slowly move the thread around the shank and at the same time carefully ease the BM around with it, keep going around the hookshank even if it seems that your'e overlapping slightly. You have to be in control of the BM, don't let it dictate and once you get the knack you should get it right nearly every time. Good attempt by the way.

Trying to keep the dabbler feel I used summer duck subs (dyed B.M) for the tail instead of GPC what do you think?
