Default Feathers and food all in one

Today was out and about and the local butcher and game dealers seemed to have an oversupply of game birds.

For the princely sum of a total of £12 I bought a pair of french partridge, Now I know that they arent as useful as greys but they had so many nice feathers, a pair of pheasant , the male was particularly nicely marked and sported fine tail feathers and a nice pair of red grouse. All the birds have been skinned and the skins are now drying and the meat is in the freezer for a game pie at christmas. Who says bargains cant be found.

Now where are all those spider patterns,,,What do you suggest

Andy

Hi Andy ,
That's great ! I do a lot of shoots and it still amazes me as to how many birds go to waste , fantastic your getting a double hit .

We're the same in Northern Ireland. Can hardly give the birds away. Really good free-range and low fat meat.

i was going to say the same. Brace of birds.

But if they have been skinned dont roast unless you cover them in bacon, otherwise you will dry them out. Best to cassorole or even better make game pie or terrine

Typical Yorkshireman, two for the price of one.
And yes a brace for two, but never three brace for six or two brace for four.
If you shoot 20 birds it's 20 birds, never 10 brace, and no such thing as two and a half brace for 5 birds etc.
A pair is fine in my book.

Look whatever you call it , 6 birds for £12 is cheap. I have enough for a cracking game pie for christmas, I have some excellent full grouse and french partridge skins for the spiders. and pheasant for ptn nymphs etc. Cant beat a bargain...
