Default The Patrol Car

Here in Canada and two provinces to my east (12 hour drive) is the western edge of the province of Manitoba and more specifically, The Parklands. There are a group of stillwater beauties that have been developed and strict catch and keep restrictions have been put in place and it has been such a success that 30" rainbows and 30" browns are very possible goals to achieve.

The Patrol Car is a variation of another one of my original patterns, the Pumpkinhead, which I will feature in an upcoming thread. Last year I caught more fish on the Patrol Car than any other pattern so I hope you like it.

Hook: Diiachi 1760 #10 (2xl)
Tail: Black marabou (shank length)
Body: Black rabbit with red and blue Ice Dub mixed in
Hackle: Grizzly hackle dyed with Ice Blue Kool-Aid
Bead: 7/64th Anodized Blue.

Nice fly mate like it. How did you get the fly dyed with cool aid? does it not wash off?

I think the quick answer would be to post this link to an article I wrote on the subject and the results have been awesome with no fading. I still believe Veniard's Dye is the best on the planet but the Kool-Aid works quite well.

How to Dye Fly Tying Hackle | Fly Tying

I tried the link and it doesn't work from here so you may have to copy and paste. Thanks.

Edit: Once posted the link does work. If this is against forum regulations please remove and I will painstakingly type out the directions.

Link works fine here.... I suspect my difficulty would be finding non-sweetened kool-aid!
