Default Jay wings

the laddie just returned from his shoot with a jay. and a brace of pheasants. how do you prep the wings. [jay].

Jay wings just cut at the joint, wash in hot soapy water dry and dab with a bit of salt at the cut joint.
Same for pheasant but there will be more flesh try to remove as much as you can and then salt over they should cure in a week or so.

note dry using a hair dryer if you want to speed things up.

I have Jay wings from last year and they are fine,I may be lucky but I didnt treat then with anything !

Theres next to nothing in the way of meat in the jay wings so dont need much treating, just a dip in a bit of salt may help at times or dip in boiling water the joint end

The washing just get rid of any mites it may have that could contaminate other tying feathers owned.
