hi guys what size thread should i buy to start with,

Depends on what you have planned but Uni 6/0 is a good general starter thread.

as said depends what your going to tie, Uni 8/0 is great for trout and salmon flys, Uni 6/0 and UTC 140 and 70 is good for covering big tube flys, but all depends what your going to tie

Yeah, Uni 8/0 would be fine. As your confidence improves with fewer frustrating snaps...etc, you could always try G.G Sheer Ultra Fine for the smaller stuff.

if its just for trout flies then Uni 8/0 is perfect for it

Take your pick really.
Sportfish, game fishing supplies, lakeland, cookshill, Tom Saville, the list goes on...
One word of advice though - if you want a nice 'nymphy' medium brown for your PTN or GRHE, then go for 'rusty brown' as the usual shade of Uni-thread is a bit dark in my opinion.

any decent tackle shop should stock uni thread, you can try ebay as well sometimes you can get bulk spools for decent price, but any decent tackle shop should stock it
