Hi Twiddling,
It could be the way you're tying them. I tied up 145 this week and gave them 2 coats of varnish and they have been fine (so far anyway). Can you tell if they are unraveling at the bend or at the eye of the hook?

I've nothing to be doing but tying flies at the minute. They are all for my fly boxes, which I have neglected for the past few seasons. Next week it'll be cormorants, crunchers and diawl bachs.

I've never had a problem with them unravelling after varnishing even after 1 coat they should be solid. During tying they do sometimes if you don't stretch the flexi tight enough. Was your varnish setting properly?

I'm assuming you're talking about the type of buzzers that Scratch does?

To be honest these buzzers look the part but do they out fish or preform a plain black buzzer? I think not.
You don't see them filling comp anglers boxes like some other patterns.

Most of the comp boxes i have looked into seem to be B&B (blobs and boobies) dominated,in violent colours mainly , seems imitative flies are passe .

Thanks for replies they unravelled from the bend but I would of thought 4 coats would of held the flexi in place

try supper glue or bug bond for first coat and make sure you cover the part at bend where you have attached the flexi floss just done around 130 ( 10s 12s and 14s ) myself and apart from a couple when tying i have had none unravel
