Default A simple dryfly

Thought I'd tie a simple little dryfly to remind some beginners (myself included) that the essence of tying flies is sheer simplicity (fine coming from me) and the use of simple natural materials. Here I've used some pearsall's grey thread a ginger hackle (tail and hackle) and some natural seal's fur wound very sparsely. It took just a few minutes to tie and hopefully the seals fur will add some nice movement as the fly floats over the riffles (or maybe it will sink)

Thanks for looking and all comments welcome

Less is more.
Lovely tie Mark

I could not begin to count the amount of trout I have caught on a tailless grey duster.

Body, a whiff of grey rabbit
hackle, badger cock.
deadly

Thats exactly my point Maharg and a point that has been made a 1000 times before but its so easy to forget this simple principle, but I always seem to come back to these simple little patterns time and time again and I actually enjoy tying them more than most of the more complex ones

I'm considering having a go at some wee dries, 16's & 18's for now, that looks quite simplistic yet deadly; I'll let you know how I get on

Thanks for sharing that one.

Sorry Wingman, you're going against the trend of "emergers" and "vulnerability"

Ignoring hundreds of years of bushy winged flies success, its seems like your lovely number is outdated

And it doesnt have cdc in it.

So neither Lucas nor Wyatt nor others will touch it cos its old hat.

Lovely fly.
