Default Tying Scud shrimps

Hello all i am going to tie up some shrimp scuds a la Lucians Killer Scud.I have everything i need but the only scud back i have is Magic Shrimp Foil that's been lying in my box for a few years. What scud back does people find works well for Grayling or does it not really matter what scud back you use.Cheers

Cut a transparent ziplock bag into strips and use that instead of scudback. Lot cheaper and a lot tougher. You can even use the plastic wrapping off a pack of ciggies if no ziplocks around.

Take care

Terry

I was thinking about using ziplock bags. What i was wondering about was if say i am tying a pink shrimp is it best to have the body colour shining through the scud back.Or use one of these sparkely scud back materials you see.Cheers

nothing wrong with using the magic foil you already have. experiment, as nothing in fly tying is carved in stone.

This is my version.
I put shell back along the back then clear cure goo on top.
