Default Pennell variant

I decided to play around with a simple pennell pattern not that a pennell can be improved on that much and is the staple basics for many flies.
I have always liked the way that bodies turn out using peccary so thought why not. Its a long time until the new season starts but I do have high hopes for this one.

It's different.. Don't know that I'm that keen on the body, but that's me. Very neatly tied though.

Like it, Kev. Won't be many days of the season when that doesn't do a turn, especially when there's a few buzzers on the go.

Like that Kev,

not tried Peccary yet but seems to have a nice segmented effect. Hans van Klinken uses it in the 'Once and Away'. Good for the goose......

Does the GP make it a Pennel though? Looks very cruncherish to me.

Nice fly.

I think the look of peccary is one of those marmite type things.

Here's hoping I wish I could get something like the peccary in olive, I may have to try colouring some and then coating it with varnish.

I guess it is somewhere between a pennell and a cruncher, mind you a cruncher is just a wannabe pennell

I think they look fab, although whats the peccary like for durability? I bought some porcupine quill for nymphs and found that it split and broke just looking at it. That peccary stuff looks just like it may be the same?

I also have porcupine quill and it is nowhere as tough as the peccary imo.
I had thought to coat the peccary with some bugbond and may do if the fishing trials go well and I tie more of them up.
