Default Fishtec Tool Set

I'm looking to start tying my own flies this winter and just saw Fishtec's special offers in this months' Trout Fisher magazine, this set:

Compact Tool Kit - Vices & Tools Fishtec

for half the web price & postage (£14.95). Seems like an excellent starter kit, but as usual I'd just like your opinions on this kit before investing

Don't know why you'd want 3 half hitch tools when you have a decent whip finnish tool (supplied) but will give you what you need to start tying at not a bad price, .

Veniard's do a starter kit for almost half the price of the Fishtec one. No fancy box etc but good useable tools.
This one's from Atkins Angling but a you can Google other suppliers

Not bad, the case is probably worth a tenner. Most people buy a beginners kit and replace the individual parts over the years anyway as and when they know what they want, but, always buy good scissors!

And then progress onto 5 whip finishers, 13 dubbing needles, 5 vices etc etc

It's good to see that fly fishermen are as dedicated to buying 'that extra, vital, life changing' kit as my previous sport - climbing. SWMBO once vetoed the purchase of some new crampons because she thought four pairs were enough for anyone

To think I told her that fishing was nothing like that
