Default Waterboatman

Thought I'd try a few beetly things seeing that young James has been tying some excellent little beasties, so here's a waterboatman for starters which might come in handy at some point, I tied it useing a couple of goose biots and some brown seals fur with a smidging of hares ear ice dub to catch the light underneath and a seals fur and hare mix of browns and blacks for the heed, not sure what would be a good size for these but this is on a size 12.

Now that, Mark, I do like. I can think of a whole host of applications for that little beast. Neat, original tying - well done!

Very nice back to it Mark. All my waterboatmen have very pale if not white underbellies. I've also done some with olive back, legs and head. I usually use hooks between 14s and 16s though have seen some very big waterboatmen, about 8 size. I also tie a but of flat silver tinsel to represent the air bubble.

Very nice Mark - definite fishtaker and I'll be tying up a few. What did you use for the back/wings?
