Default Couple of flies

Evening all
finally got a camera which takes reasonable photos in a macro mode, still working on the shots as you can see, please forgive the photography, secondly, i am slowly getting better at tying, getting the balance of materials and proportions right takes me ages to perfect, it has also taken me a while to get all of the materials i like together. i will be sticking more up in due course as i get tying again this winter! any comments would be greatly appreciated! cheers ZT

Im struggling to take photos of my flies as well, have tried everything. But nothing seemes to work.

Mine always end up blurred, or out of focus or overly bright.

What was the trick to getting a decent photo of your flies ?

Hi
used the macro setting on the camera, which I placed on my tripod thingy (Less movement? got my bench light as close as I could, held it above the fly, and clicked away, not as good as i would like yet, but will keep experimenting!

I like the 1st one best
I would have liked to see some seals fur scrubbed up in it though and watch the tail as it looks like a few fibres have rolled on you , having said that it is coming along quite nicely and Im sure they will work no problem.

I am using a £20 second hand Samsung 8.1mp camera and always struggled to get decent clear enough shots.

I use a blank background which takes up the whole rear of the shot so that there's nothing in the background which can interfere with the focus.

You can buy a cheap plastic tripod for a quid from Poundland which helps a great deal, so there's no blurred images.

I also use an overhead fly tying lamp, the macro setting, and I turn the flash off, only using the light from above.

Sometimes I just cannot get the touch focus to give me a clear view at all, and sometimes moving the light to a different angle, or moving the camera to a different angle helps sharpen up the image. Just keep mucking about and you will find what works.

These are nowhere near perfect, and the lighting is poor, but for a £20 camera...

ive found that using the timer reduces blurring when taking photos as your hands wont be on the camera eliminating any shaking.

hope this helps.

nice flies btw.
