Default G.O.B. Variant

Still replenishing the standards and favourites for next season. Was down to my last one with this fella. The original was actually a shop-bought affair from before I started tying. Picked it up many moons ago from John Norris, on the way up to fish Loch Laidon, where it sorted a few nosy fish out, and has sorted a good few more out elsewhere since. Norris's had it down as a 'Golden Olive bumble', which is debatable, but not a million miles off. It was a lovely fly at any rate, with a rather tasty summer-terrestrial feel to the colouring, as well as being more than a little sedgey. One of those patterns that looks and works best on a 12 or 14.

Beautiful fly Scratch, I really like this style of fly, and the photos are brilliant!

This may sound a bit dim, but would you mind explaining the abbreviation W.O.I? I've only been tying for 2 months or so, and I'm not familiar with all of these...

What a nice polite young man you are James.
Good luck with your tying.
Steven.

Doesn't sound dim at all James... not even Mr Trout knew everything after two months It was rude of me to assume that everyone knows what W.O.I. stands for
It's 'West of Ireland Golden Olive'. It's nothing like a genuine, or traditional golden olive, in fact it isn't olive at all. I think someone was just stuck for a name for it!

Glad you like the fly and the pics anyway.
