Default fly tying kit advice

Hi all,
I want to get myself set up to fly tie.
I fish mostly stillwaters but every now and then get the opportunity to fish rivers.
I'd like to start off with tying nyphms weighted and standard, daiwls, pheasants, etc.
So my question for advice is, what basic tying tools are needed and materials to start and when it comes to hooks what make is quality? I will be investing in a snowbee vice.

I know this is a bit of a BIG question, i just want to be pointed in the right direction and end up with a tying kit that works for me, not to end up with things not needed.
Thanks for any advice and your time.
Séan

I started off with some cock pheasant tail feathers, peacock herl, black thread and some gold tinsel/wire. A few colours of marabou feathers and fritz wouldn't go amiss to ties up some lures and blobs for next year.

Stalkingmist, before you start buying ANY "kit" use the search facility above re fly tying kits & check out Home & News & see if there's a branch near you, if so please join it, as you will learn faster than any other way by doing so.

Dont buy a pre-boxed kit
Get a vise, bobbin, hackle pliers, bodkin.
Kamasan hooks are great, and not too expensive.
Material mentioned previously will work, maybe include some gold beads for heads. Get the size to match whatever hooks you buy. Your local tackle store will keep you right if you ask for advice.
