Default Forum etiquette

Bit of a 'Scratch type' rant really.

A question was raised recently (assume it was a genuine call for information) and myself and Richard replied to the best of our abilities (or that was at least right for me). Both replies were fairly close and thus mirroring. Nobody could really say much else.

But

No 'thank you' was received for this advice and as such was a complete and utter waste of Richard's and my ******* time.

That doesn't matter so much but I am wondering how much advice is being witheld as a result of someone not having the decency to say 'ta'.

If you are seeking advice please remember to respond it makes it easier for the next guy ( and yes I do ask questions and I do remember to say thanks for the answers or respond appropriately). Otherwise people will not have their questions answered.

Rant over

Thank you for viewing.

A very good point Loops, manners cost nothing.
I thank you.

And WTF is one of them when it's at home?

Aye, I picked up on this one a few weeks ago, Chris.... same deal.. responded to a couple of threads with relatively lengthy, in-depth replies... not a dickie-bird. Like you say, one doesn't do it for the thanks, but one likes to know that one's time hasn't gone to waste, and that the info was of some use. And as Steven says, basic manners.

That's a reason why i don't bother offering to help mate ........ there's been a number of stillwater stuff that i won't bother with anymore. You tend to find these types are experts six months later
Takes nothing to say cheers......

Not specifically on the forum, but I think the world in general is lacking manners these days!

Almost daily I get doors slammed in my face whilst carrying hot coffee back to my desk at work. Not many of my collegues even acknowledge when i hold the door open for them?? It doesnt take much, does it?

My eldest has just gone 2 years old and she has already been taught that manners should be unprompted. Occassionally she gets it wrong, as we all do, but she has started to realise when this happens and tells me she is sorry. I hope she keeps it up

Hope I dont sound like a grumpy old man???

Please dont stop helping others though guys, just because there are some rude people out there, shouldnt spoil it the rest of us?

What would be the point in the forum other than for buying/selling and moaning if we didnt offer help????

I am fairly new to fly fishing and without this forum i wouldnt have got this far.
