Default UTC thread

Just started tying again after several years away and I have a load of spools of UTC 70 and 140 thread.

They have mainly been kept out of direct light but was wondering whether it degrades with age ie strength and colour. Should I start again with new stock as I have probably 30 spools of the stuff

I guess one thing to consider is the storage conditions. If they have been stored away in a dark draw or cupboard then I wouldn't think there would be much of a problem. Direct exposure to UV would probably cause so deterioration in the colour fading.

As arjxh56 pointed out tie a few flies and see how it feels.

Kind Regards

Shouldn't be a problem. If kept dry and out of sunlight get it used. More often than not, the thread is covered by materials anyway. As long as it has some strength to it and doesn't break up in short sections should be still good to use.
