A quick question about the above. I have a few days Grayling fishing coming up and want to tie up a few of these. The tying instructions I have dont specify a hook to use and I have subsequently been told this can be fished either as a dry or a wet fly; am I correct in thinking I need to use a different hook for the dry/wet versions?. If so, what make/size would you recommend for each variant?.

It's an excellent dry fly! I've been experimenting with Preston PR27 in sizes 14, 16, 18 and 20 this season and although it is not offset or reversed it is a very good hooker. The bonus is that it usually drops out when you lift the landing net and take the tension off the line. In most cases the fish is ready for release immediately.
