Default Beatis Nymph

Hello all i have been watching Mr Tyzacks Grayling Through The Year dvd.I fancy tying up a few of his Beatis Nymphs for the spring. The pattern calls for Olive Nymph Skin.Is it this stuff he means Virtual Nymph - Flytyers Designer Skin If it is it seems a bit of a rip off at £3 for a 5x5 inch piece. Is there a similar product out there where you at least get a decent size piece for your cash or has it got to be VN stuff.Cheers all

Try here Lathkill Flexibody - Lathkill Fly Fishing. Just as good for half the price.

If you have some appropiately coloured marker pens you can use what you want. Skin coloured surgical gloves are cheap, the ones down the garage are even cheaper if they have a light coloured one.

Designer skin is not the same as 'nymph skin', it is extremely this and you would be able to achieve a segmented effedt like you can with NS. Flexibody is not like NS either, its thicker than designer skin but is not elastic. For baetis patterns i prefer FB as it gives a segmented effect and is transluscent as well. NS is like a 3mm wide rubber band section and can be varied in tension to create the dsired amount of with/segmentation.

In a nutshell, none are the same as each other.

Just watched JT's tying it in his dvd he cuts a strip from a card that has a white backing that he peels off & calls it Olive Nymph Skin.It doesn't look that thick but it's translucent. It looks like the Lathkill Flexiboby but with a backing you peel off.I normally shop at Lathkill so will get some next order

I havn't seen the dvd but it sounds like its either Vitural Nymph Flexibody or the Lathkill Flexibody. Both have a white card backing even though the Lathkill stuff doesn't have it in the picture on the website.

Hope this helps.

Bill.
