Default Primrose v Light Cahill thread

Want to tie up plenty of flies ( nymphs and dries ) as displayed in recent months in FF+FT , by Jeremy Lucas. They look the biz and both his CDC dries and stripped herl nymphs scored for me last season.

Just a question - i dont have any primrose thread ( although i may have some Pearsalls somewhere in the deep recesses??) , but I do have light cahill.

Are they much the same thing, or as close as would make no difference ??

Try it and see how you get on when on the water, you'll pull a fair few fish in when using flies tied with Lt.Cahill. Especially up here in Scotland.

Light cahil is good but I prefer yellow 8/0 uni or primrose 14/0 sheer
for under my quills especially the yellow uni it shows through the quills better,
craig

Presume thats for the nymphs Craigie? Or both ? I have yellow 8/0 Uni in the fly tying stanley toolbox....

I must remember to split the tails on the dries, although i see that John Tyzacks versio just uses a bunch of coq de leon tails ?

Light Cahill is pretty good, takes cobblers wax well for Greenwells.
Primrose, Yellow 4 or Langley Threads 1088 Antique Yellow.

Primrose Sheer is the most popular coloured thread i sell after Black on my site.
The light tan Wisp is very popular as well.

As suggested tie up a few flies with what you have and see if you like the results.
If you do job done if not then pick up a few spools of thread in other colours.

I use Cahill with cobblers for Greenwells, and Lt Cahill clean for Lt Olive patterns.
