Great vice for the money. I've had one for 2 years now and can't fault it. I just need to learn how to tie properly lol.

If your wanting to spend that sort of money I can't honestly think of another vice as good.

In fact if I can find a Snowbee Waldron cheap enough you can have mine for a few quid. Still have the spare O ring and both allen keys.

My snowbee pedestal has been great Pete but the instructions are naff and I still havn't worked out how to use the thing properly but it does what I need it to do and no problems.

Got mine at the beginning of the summer after looking at a few other vices around the same price. It is well made and does everything that I need. The jaws hold the hook very firmly (in fact I bent a kamasan B175 size 10 hook accidently and the hook never moved in the jaws). The rotation function is handy for checking the position of cheeks or tying in false hackles as you just turn the dial at the back. The vice will do me a few years and I recommend you purchase one. I got mine from Atkins Angling for a good price and their service is excellent.
Hope this helps a bit,

John.

Question Re: opinions on snowbee flymate?

Totally agree with mjb? don't get the ball joint don't want to throw a spanner in the works either. I originally bought the fly mate which was faulty in a couple of areas. I then got in contact with snowbee who recommended i upgrade to the ball joint but wasn't happy with this. It came undone and rotated far to easily. The upright from the pedestal kept coming undone.
Needless to say i wasted a fair bit of money on postage got another vice and then sold it on here. Guess i was a little unlucky? but i did speak to one shop who had sent quite a few back. My advice if possible would be try before you buy. I'm not an anti snowbee either normally a great company i have numerous items of theirs i'm pleased with.

I suggest getting the pedestal rather than the clamp version, you'll only end up searching for a make do pedestal like i did. :-(

They are a good vice, true rotary function if you need it. All i can fault them on is the sometimes irritating, "belt and braces" jaws, the O ring and 2 screws combination! Great vice for the price though, i used one for 2 years.

Ditto it's a waste of time. The vice is excellent and I would still be using mine if I hadn't come into a windfall and bought a waldron.
