Default A couple for Wingman

After some inspiration from Mark (Wingman) decided to have a go at a couple of dabblers

Still a fair bit go on the tying and photos but really enjoyed doing these

Comments and advice always welcome

Thanks

nothing to be of....the one on the left is very good the jc cheeks make a difference.......i might say that the one on the right is a little bit heavily tied for me, i prefer them sparse.
with regard to palmered body hackle on dabblers definitely less is more.

Nothing wrong with those Edd
As for the heavy cloak on the one on the right Im led to believe that is how the original was tied and not sparse but its better to cover all bases

Very nice Ed, really coming along with those. You might find it better to use saddle hackles for the palmered hackle, I pick a feather with fibres just a bit longer than the hook gape and give it 4 or 5 equal turns and then pick a feather for the neck hackle with slightly longer fibres and just a couple of turns or so and I find hen hackles give a better look for the neck hackle but cock hackles are also effective and I try to get the cloaked bronze mallard the same length as the tail proportions-wise which is for me usually the same length as the hook. Nice one

Better than my first dabbler attempts I can tell you! I prefer the sparser dressing to the RHS one. And they've met with the approval of the forum dabbler expert so you must be on the right lines!

Your'e obviously referring to Rob NCA as there's no way I'm taking that accolade afterall I'm still a beginner on these dabblers....(he said unassumingly while typing ferociously with one hand and applying a cloaking of bronze mallard with t'other).
