Hey guys,

My dad recently asked me if I could get a box and tie up some flies for a guy at his work, to repay a favour.

As far as I'm aware he's fairly new to fly fishing and only fishes small still waters. Im going to do him about 30-50 flies in total.

I'm doing 2 of each, so far I have...

hot head damsels, cats whiskers, cormorants, flash back PTNs, generic lures, buzzers, crunchers.

I'm going to do him some fritz and blobs tomorrow.

Any other 'musts' for the small still water anglers box?

Cheers for any help given.

A few flies suggested to me for stillwaters are,

App's Bloodworm
Adams
Black and peacock spider
Diawl Bach
Hoppers
Klinkhamers
Shipmans buzzer

(and some more, but not going to suggest too many if you are going to do 30-50)

of course you don't have to do these, I is always your choice to decide what you want to do

All i would add to the above would be Griffiths Gnat 18/20, and tiny buzzers, also 18/20 for hanging 6 - 8" under a dry. There are days, particularly in the colder months when these are needed!

Anyway!!! So your dad owes a favour and he gets you to do all the work of bailing him out??

Thanks for the suggestions guys - will definitely do some of those...

Mancfly, exactly my thoughts!! Although after raising this with my dad, I was 'gently' reminded that as he works for gore-tex that his frequent favours far outweigh mine. Lol.
