you are definitely on the right track mate, nice looking cormorant and it will definitely catch as it is. If you want a bit of constructive criticism I personally would pinch off the wing (dont cut with scissors!) to be a little shorter, just a bit longer than the bend of the hook is how long I tie my cormorantt wings. Also I personally think they look better if the dressing does not go round the bend. Finally the head is a bit big but this will definitely improve as you tie more and more flies and will naturally get neater.

Keep at it mate you are turning out some good flies already.

Graham you would be amazed how few turns are needed to secure the materials when finishing off, try "ending" the fly a lot nearer the eye of the hook and maybe half a dozen turns of thread and see if you can get the head smaller.

and dont worry most of us have been there with similar concerns.

Cheers Guys,

The only problem i had with this one was my thread snapped so i re tied it back on thats when it started to go wrong and thicken in places it should not have. I will clip back the wings a little and not go so far down the curve next time. God it was hard work though and my eyes are sore now lol.

How you guys can sit there and do this for hours is beyond me lol...

Cheers

Graham

Hi Bigfoot,

It really is my finishing that is letting me down at the minute think i am going to have to get myself a finish tool as i really can't get to grips with doing it with the old fingers.

Cheers
