Nice one gary.
The way i was taught, was to tie in the tail first and evey pinch there after, make a little longer than the one before. ie short erse! and a bit longer as you get closer to the head. Makes a better looking fly in my hummble opinion.
I tie loads of hedgehogs, and always tie them with the tail, never longer than the hook shank, usually on a b160.
I'm ***** at pics or i'd show you some of mine to let you know what i mean!
By the way i'm totally jellous, that i dont have the deer hair that you used, very cool!

ps forget the muddler head, just add another pinch of dubbing!
On that type of fly' a muddler head, simply isn't worth the hassle, unless its used as a wake fly on the bob!
So tie some easy peasy hogs, with out muddler heads and you'll be well sorted, with half the hassle

Cheers Thorfinn

Wullie your welcome in orkney ant time, just tell me the loch you want to fish and we'll have a great day out! There is a good chance however that you might lose a few flies, in the net, oars, or when your no looking
