Default More Flies

Here are four flies I have tied over the last week or so, I have not been able to tie many lately, as I have had tons of homework from school lately, hope you like them, picures might not be great, but I am so tired!

1: Some kind of orange cheek buzzer I did by using adhesive cheek material.

2: Orange Fritz

The next two are from the lesson I attended yesterday with Chris Reeves and members of the fly dressing guild, I am very proud of these flies

3: Not sure of the name but I think a wet mayfly or something, maybe Chris could help me out on this one?

4: A Claret Bumble, I think joint favourite so far to tie and to look at, with the one above.

Thanks for looking, hope you like them.

PS: If Chris Reeves looks at this, thanks again for the fly rack! Already proving very useful

James

Agree with the others, all nice flies, especially number 3. Watch for materials slipping round the hook as the tail on your Orange fritz has, it will still fish ok though

Amazing progress in just a few weeks. I hope your efforts encourage some others to take up tying their own!

Time for you to start entering some fly-swaps. You'll learn a lot tying a dozen of the same pattern.

Don't know about fly swaps just yet, maybe if one comes up with irish wet flies or something, I love tying these types of flies got to buy some cock and hen capes/saddles to practice with!

Thanks, James

Very good indeed James. You really will learn a lot from various "swaps" both in getting consistency in your own flies & learning how others do their proportions/styles etc. Try a few & see how you get on.

My only worry with James' rapid progress is that he's shaming some of the "experienced tiers" who don't tie a fly from one class to the next!

Seriously though, your flies are coming on in leaps and bounds and I agree, the mayfly is a cracker, It doesn't have a name, its just a generic style of mayfly to get you used to the techniques involved which you picked up very quickly. Hopefully you'll do a few dozen more and get the bumble spot on too.

I would think entering a swap will be a good idea too, you'll learn consistency and also see how others tie similar flies.

See you at the next class.

Cheers,
