Default watershed

I have always used gink for my dries but i got some of the above.Do you treat the material before you tie the fly or do you treat the finished fly?thank you

Actually you CAN do it either way, but it,s usually easier to do it AFTER you tie the fly. Just squirt some on your index finger and rub it in then leave to dry overnight-works a treat!

Just one or two drops, mind, a little goes a long way. Some folks saturate the fly and then wonder why it doesn't float.

So far I have just treated the finished flies. Today in the driving wind and rain showers it was a blessing because all I had to do was make a vigorous false cast and the fly was ready to deploy again. Previously I would have been phaffing around with powder etc., which is not fun in such weather.
