Default GP insetad of Bronze mallard

Hi,
A wee while back i got told that you can use one of the feather from a golden pheasent instead of bronze mallard-i cant remeber what the feather was but if anyone out there does, can you either give me a picture of the feather or tell me where abouts on the body this feather may be.

I reckon it might be wing secondaries which you get if you buy a skin.
They are more like grouse than mallard but have a fantastic chestnut mottling.

G.P. tail feathers have a beautiful rich brown mottled appearance, but they are not at all easy to work with especially winging in smaller sizes. If you want a bit to play around with, send me an s.a.e.

I don't think that is what is not what you want - it is a very poor winging material as it has a total inability to stay together and splits like a slapper's legs. It certainly couldn't be construed as a bronze mallard sub.
