Default Polyfitus Nymphs

Hello all i am trying to buy sewing pins in different thicknesses to suit different Tungsten bead sizes for tying some Polyfitus style nymphs. The few shops in my area that sell sewing pins all sell hardened steel ones that don't bend without snapping. Is it either brass or brass nickle plated sewing pins i need or other. Most i have looked at on the internet don't make it clear if they are hard or soft metal.Cheers all

The brass embroidery pins are a. blunt & b, soft. They can be plated which makes no difference to them other than the fact they are less likely to corrode.

if you cant find pins, melt a ball on the end of a piece of mono for roughly the same effect as a pin

Another vote for this method.. Although, it doesn't add as much weight as the pin or is it as strong.

I have also tried threading a piece of nylon through the bead and doubling it back over and tying in, looping the bead in. Gives just the same profile and I think it looks a bit neater. But remember to use something stronger than 3lb Nylon

instead of the mono, use a double loop of copper wire through the bead. match the wire to the bead color.

encapsulate the wire/bead assembly prior to tying in with diamond hard uv goo (or your favorite goo)

What's the reasons for fishing a polyfitus nymph over a a standard gold head?
