Default Tying legs for daddies/hoppers

I'm probably worrying about something that doesn't matter much to the trout, but have noticed some nice tyings on here of daddies and hoppers and the legs were Double knotted! I have a stonefly knotting hook I use and also a brass attachment for a vice which I have yet to figure out how to use. I tie some nice looking legs using pheasant tail fibres knotted but once and they seem to do the business, but how does one do "Two" knots in one fibre. I tried it, but found the tail fibres weren't long enough. Can anyone help or at least put my mind at ease that double knotting tail fibres looks nice to the angler, but does not increase the flies effectiveness? Thank You.

Generally hoppers are one knot, daddies two. But personally I only knot once and be done with it lol.

I buy the double knotted stuff for daddies and tie my own for hoppers as you just cant buy decent hopper legs as the knots are too far away from the tips.
Whether any of this is necessary who knows but I prefer to make myself happy which also breeds confidence in the flies.

Spot on,, buy double knotted. Trying to do these yourself is a real pain in the A***

I knot my own "freehand" using a curved pair of watchmakers forceps

Byron I posted this fly (the 'Bangwallop') a while back, it has four legs and I put 3 knots in each leg, don't ask me how I did it as I can't remember so 2 knots should be not that bad.

Thanks Mark. I may be worrying about something very petty. I'll give it a go as I'm better at knotting fibres now and see what happens. Pity I can't post the results on here.

i stopped using feather and now only use the long bristles from a black paint brush, not traditional but stronger and easier than feather and i use a 3mm crouchet hook i can do 8 legs 4 a side in under a min.

Hi Alan. Sounds good as I use them in place of micro fibbets. Do you knot them the same as feather fibre then?
