Default Guard hairs

Are guard hairs from Hares ears/mask anything more than the longer hairs?

I want them on their own for GRHE tails (rather than pheasant etc) so is the best way to get them just to cut a good pinch of fur away from the skin and then tease out the short fibres for the rest of the dubbing?

Yes you can cut out the guard hairs. For the dubbing it just pulls out-you don't have to do much else. The whiskers themselves also make nice tails
