Default "Streamer"

Put this together for a fly swap where the theme was why did i buy that material? Designed with some river streamer fishing in mindd but don't think it cant count as a true streamer as those things are a work of art.

Be interested to know what any of you with experience in streamer fishing think of this one, my knowledge is very limited but planning to tie some up over winter ready for the new season next year.

Tied on a 2x long 2x heavy mustad size 6

Looks OK but try the same streamer in smaller sizes also try using maribou for the tail to give extra movement and tye them in different colours i.e. brown and olive as well as black. you can also add extra weight by using tungsten beads at the head. These will work in still and moving water. Hope this is useful.

By the way Daniel "Streamer" is what my fellow americans call a "lure". Looks like it'll catch fish though. You can use the tail in a "matuka" style lure as well

Cheers, the streamer/lure difference seems to be a river/lake divide over here. If i fished it on a lake I would be lure fishing if i dropped it in some moving water I would be streamer fishing.

Think it just spawns from the river fisherman being embarassed about lure fishing and trying to distance themselves from it. God knows why.
