Far as I know they are just small blobs ?? may stand corrected tho .

Midget Gems (to give them the full name) are tied using the same fritz (6mm)as normal blobs but then trimmed down to a smaller size . I like a size 14 gem tied on a short shank 12 hook as a top dropper, I think it is less likely to scare fish.
