Default slow dive buzzers..

anybody tied or fished the buggers?

they sit on the surface and after a short while they begin to sink. on the retrieve they suggest a sharp one metre pull, and they rise up in the water exciting the fish to strike. there construction is the same as a suspender buzzer but the fibres at the head take in water but retain air bubbles in the fibres. any suggestions!

Not heard that term used, no.

Sounds just like a CDC/emerger anything familiar should do the same, i like to cast them in and draw back with slow short pulls, and let them pop back up through the surface film, looks more natural imho, and many a fish have agreed with me.

Best regards
Jim

Only buggers I ever heard of were woolly ones. That's a totally new fly to me.

Only ever seen them on Ebay. The ones displayed looked for all the world like a shuttlecock buzzer with white cdc feathers. They obviously sink after a period floating. So do my SCB. I wonder if this is a bit of a con. No doubt someone out there will have used them and have more information.

Its close ,the original was legless, slightly shorter deer hair wing but two or three bunches body black seal with red hole ribbing .
Fairly sure there is a picture in the Trout fishers bible ,it is a Stan headley pattern or Stan ffirst mentioned it in either T&S or FF&FT .A really good black buzzer for surface and just subsurface work .

For Half hogs have a look on the orkney flyfishers site ,sure there will be some there, the one you show looks like it was dressed somewhere far far away where trout are not common !

as mentioned i did see them on ebay, just wanted to have a go at tying one but couldnt think what they may of used. CDC would be to buoyant, the seller claims they sink fairly quickly.

Looks very much like WHITE CDC to me! Shuttlecock buzzers use cdc-all sorts of colours of cdc.

Your "slow dive buzzers" are "shuttlecock buzzer"s, Sir! They don't dive-they sit in the sub-surface
