Default Angel hair

Anyone have any tips on using/handling angel hair when using it for Lite Brite Buzzers, (how to seperate it, make it easier to handle ?) i find it hellish to handle, don't suppose my rough hands are any help, but wondered if anyone knows of a simple way of using it, i buy it in hanks.

The nymphs turn out alright, but i hate using it because imho it's horrible stuff to handle when using such small amounts.

Best regards
Jim

Only use it on lures and salmon flies myself!

I have wondered that same thing. I have watched Davie McPhails video on tying the Lite Brite buzzer . I tried several times and ended up throwing the angel hair in the circle file.

I am experimenting with loose Dyneema/Spectra fibre at the moment and it presents the same problems.

So far the best I have come up with is to separate the loose fibres into the thickness and lengths I am going to use handling them very gently by the tips only and then gently draw them through a damp bar of hand soap same as you would wax thread. Let them dry on a piece of kitchen towel and they are very easy to tie with. Finish the patterns and thoroughly rinse them under warm water to remove soap and let them dry.

Bit of a faff but it works well.

In fact, I don't know a fly tying problem that spitting on won't solve

Fritz crowding the eye?.... goz on it, stroke it back.
Marabou flying around all over the palce?... goz on it.
'Doubling' shoulder hackles (folding them in half) ......goz on fingers, stroke into place.
Tying in tips/ends (Peacock herl, fine wire, hackle tips etc etc).... goz on it - sticks like a magnet to wherever you intend to tie it in.
Trouble dubbing? Goz on yer fingers, or rather, lick them then rub together until tacky....
Cock hackle tails all over the place? ......................I think you've got the idea by now
