Default First signs of Whiting Capes at list $

Perhaps the hair craze is subsiding. My local tackle shop in San Diego was able to get me some Hebert-Miner capes from Whiting at $47 for full bronze and $60 for full silver. Even rarer colors like cree. So I went colorful with this double cree variant of a double badger, and used a nice coachman brown for this disgusting trude designed solely for fast water in California. Good to see that the planet are beginning to return to their appointed paths, at least as hackle prices in the US go.Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

I am told that Whiting are trying to service all their shops and so each shop is getting a percentage of what they order. This has been the case for a while. The only difference that I can see is that there isn't a constant procession of hairdressers coming into the stores everyday looking for new deliveries.
Ebay sales seem to be slowing down but I can't tell if thats because sellers are being so greedy or if all the good stuff has gone.
Certainly Cape prices are not climbing up, a Whiting introductory pack of 4 x half capes in good colours went for $58.00 yesterday which is $2 below rrp.

That said I still get three of four enquiries daily looking for saddle

Cheers

Neck capes are easier to find but saddles are still pretty expensive if you can find them.

The Lime Trude - a good ol' attractor pattern in the US.

JS Flyfishing just got stock in as well. Whiting (red label) bronze capes for $59.95. Still over-priced. No saddles....

It will be interesting when the hair extension fad goes away, there may well be a flood of cheap saddles hitting ebay from hairdressers trying to shift unused stock!

You can still get good money for a good grizzle saddle but the rest seems to be slowing.
I am sure that the greed of certain vendors has also helped the demand to drop, when you see someone offering 10 x whiting 100 packs for $1,000 or a plain dyed blue cape for $750 you know they have all gone mad!

I am still getting 2 or 3 emails a weeks from the USA and now (in the last two weeks) Europe for grizzle saddles, the rest seems to have died off. I'm told the craze is starting in France too but they do not seem to use ebay like the civilised world does and are not impacting the market.

Now if only I can start a craze for all the bits and bobs left over from the
70's and 80's... anyone want to buy plain non fritz, non UV, chennille, looks lovely when braided inot your hair........

Cheers
