Default Flying Ants

During my last thread:Some for this morning, 'Silversedge' mentioned 'Flying Ants'. However like others i had cleared out my seriously under used imiations. You know the ones, 'Ant shaped' thread body, white hackle tips/poly yarn for the wing and black cock hackle tied 2/3rds up the shank.

So with 'Silversedges' suggestion and my Mothers favourite saying "Oh...just in case" , i tied up these on #16/18's...just in case.

Maybe it's a bit too late for them now, but there's always next year.

Cheers Derek.

I reckon they will do nicely Derek, mines are just a simple black parachute with a bulbous rear end and thorax, they work well for me.
The black gnats are out in force now down here

Cheers Silversedge, but i do like to complicate things . I'm guessing the tying for you ant has just a 'wing post' for the hackle but no actual wings?

Cheers Derek
