Fly Tying Videos !

Being a flytyer I love watching flytying videos as I'm sure most do. You tube offers many vids and some excellent. Of course at the top of the list is Davie McPhail ! Everyone knows "He's the Man" at the art of flytying. He makes it look so easy that anyone can do it. I try a lot of his patterns just because they look "cool".

Another I came across by accident is Roman Mosers You Tube Videos. You cannot understand a word he is saying (anyway I cannot) but his Vids are excellent also and his material list is in english at the beginning of each video.

A person new to flytying or even an experienced tyer can learn helpful techniques from these two gentlemen.

Anyone else have other excellent videos to watch ?? Winters coming on and I need more tying vids !!

I do not tie flies (hope to start soon) but I enjoy watching the videos of Davie McPhail and videos from David Strawhorn and David Cammiss. Although in a lot of David Cammiss' videos you have to guess the material.

Hi James,

I first started tying over 20 years ago - I had purchased a lot of books ! You will learn a lot from videos with the advantage of the pause button.
I like watching them for new ideas.
You can always post questions on the forum !!

Yes I like Steve Cullens videos and I think I have seen some of Dave Downies. Hywel Morgan Im not familiar with ! Have to check him out ..

Yes MD, I must agree that Davie McPhail is the king when it comes to tying videos, with so much to learn from his youtube site.

I have also gleaned lots of useful tips from the excellent videos over on the Gwent Angling Society website. Most flies tied by Mark Roberts who is an excellent tutor, also a couple from Gareth Lewis who ties a very tidy fly indeed!

Oh I don't know shrek I quite like old Dave, he has a certain Jack Hargreaves thing goin on and is more old school fly tying...but thats just me

I can see where you get the Jack Hargreves angle, but as someone who uploads instructional tying vids?? nah not for me
