Default Two more hoppers (with tips taken on board)

I had a wee play at the vice this morning after my previous (hopper) attempts; a few suggestions arose that the hackles were to long, the legs weren't quite right, so here's another attempt, again, the heads are a bit messy, but that'll come through time.

Nice flies again! You've now persuaded me not to go out in the rain and instead spend the afternoon tying up some hoppers!!! I have WAY too many flies already!

oh,yes. Nothing like a half drowned hopper to pull them up

I envy you being able to fish Leven. It was one I wanted to fish along with Menteith and North Third on our extended camping trip. Unfortunately your suggestion of Ullapool got me locked into Assynt and from there north east. Magical place.
Oh, well. Maybe next year

Really like the look of them, though I like to tie the legs more underneath as when the fly sits in the surface, the legs are sitting down in the film and are more visible to the fish rather than having the legs more on top of the fly and sitting above the water. But that's probably just me.
Your heads are getting neater as well.
Regards

John.

I'm still having problems positioning the legs where I want them, after tying them in they seem to have a mind of their own

Practice, practice......

LOL
You are dead right, practice, practice and more practice.
I think there are good threads somewhere showing how to tie in legs at the sides and underneath hooks. If I can remember, they advise pinch and loop.

John.

Thanks for all the comments, here's another one I've just finished. Really happy with the body and the legs are better, but the head..........
