Default Hare`s fur

Iv just bought my first Hares mask and made a few flies, does Hares fur have some special qualities or is it used more for traditional reasons?

I like it by the way its pretty easy to use

easy to use, easy to dye. traditional because it is cheap, easy to get and it works. The look is real natural/organic and a buggy sort of a thing. The gard hairs have that spiky thing going that make it look like legs or something.

I am not aware of any secret properties but working with the mask is great the range of fibers and tonal differences all from the one source its a tactile pallet of fibers if you like. Regards PJ.
