Off to the Clyde on Friday to see if I can crack the code of fish rising in those glassy calm knee deep pools.
Do you think this wee fellow might do the bizz?

tails: splayed micro fibbets
thread: primrose 8/0
body: turkey biot
wing: 2 cdc feathers dyed beige.
bubbing: superfine dry fly dubbing in beige.

I like everything... except the proportions. (BTW your primrose looks very green on my display.)

Dont know about the green, but, tails a touch long and wing a bit dense????

Still getting to be comfortable with CDC. Perhaps I have over egged the wing but had two many flies sink like a brick with a single plume.

BTW I am a bit wary of using Bug Bond to coat dry flies. (A) I don't think it is necessary and I think an undercoat of SH is more effective and (B) it has a density of 1.1 i.e. it's heavy.

I used SH to protect the biot. Dont think I will bother buying the Bug Bond, not really needed for my tying.

Yes on the tails. On the wing, not so much too dense as perhaps too big. I would also crop it tighter at the back. But that's just my opinion and it could well be wrong. I was looking at the same video yesterday. I kind of like the way Marc Petitjean does it with split thread etc:
