Default v small nymph hooks?

Hi folks,

I'd be grateful if people could recommend small nymph hooks (size 18-22), and somewhere to get them. Also small beads (ideally tungsten 2mm or even less).

Much obliged.

Try Chris at Lathkill, he should be able to supply what you are after. Here's one example if you want a curved body, (down to size 20) they are basically repackaged Tiemco's but cheaper (in price not quality).

LPH 200 - Lathkill Fly Fishing

also...

If these don't fit the bill he has plenty of others and it's always worth giving him a call to discuss your requirements, I always find him very helpful.

If Chris does not have the small beads try Phil Holding at The Fly Tying Boutique, below is a tungsten example..,

He also does some really nice non tungsten anodised 2mm beads (Realfly color beads)...

Hope this helps...

Andrew

Pat Stevens at FlyTek tel: 01772 684003 has tungsten beads down to 1.5mm and sells various hook ranges including Varivas who do small nymph hooks.

For tungsten beads I always order from Joel at Tungsten beads . co . UK, the range and quality he offers is excellent and they are very reaosnably priced. Hooks for nymphs of that size I use tiemco 103bls as they are pretty sturdy and have a nice profile with a big enough eye to get the tippet through. Lots of places stock them but I think i got my last batch from the flytying boutique

I'm with Dan on using Joel from Tunsgtenbeads.co.uk - excellent prices and service.

I've experimented with lots of nymph hooks and now use the Tiemco 2487 for nearly all my nymphs. Extremely strong and goes right down to s24. I have even started using them for dry flies (mainly klinks)!

A similar model is the 2499 but this is more expensive.

For hooks, have a look at Tiemco 2488 ... a straight eye so minimal closure of the gape using beads on small hooks.

For beads contact Toby at Funky Fly Tying ...

Tungsten Beads,Beads, Dumbbells and Eyes :: Funky Fly Tying

Really good quality tungsten beads down to 1.5mm.
