Default Amber nymph

I think there might be a nymph called the amber nymph already, but anyway I came up with this one after a little experimentation. Tied on a kamasan B175 size 12.

Nice. I tye something very similar, basically a hares ear with a orange tackle. Fishes well, so no doubt this fly will also.

Mark, you are right, there is a nymh already. Originated by Dr.Bell of Wrington Somerset quite a few years ago. He's the same man who virtually "invented" buzzer fishing.

The dressing was quite straightforward, a #10/12 d.e. hook with a back of grey mallard over a pronounced rear body of amber seals fur 2/3's along the shank, followed by a throrax of claret or firey brown seal. The back is then tied over both sections & a few light red (usually) cock hackle fibres for legs.

It's killed many 1,000's of fish at Blagdon, where it was designed for & doubtless elsewhere as well.

Thanks bert sarg and arkle for the info, couldn't find much relating to your description, the closest would be this one shown at cudafly, alot different to mine, although mine was concieved and tied in around 5 mins so not bad considering but maybe on a nymph hook next time and possibly slightly longr abdomen with a thicker thorax might do the trick.
