Default Hackle advice

Just run out of black hackle for my wet flies. Does anyone know a source of inexpensive black cock hackle which will tie a 10-16? Dont mind loose or cape.

Mainly for things like crunchers and ke-hes. Advice much appreciated.

Dan

You can buy 12 hen hackles in bulk from John Norris of Penrith for about £2.99 if that's any help. You get a variety of popular colours

Turrel do a nice black neck with lots of assorted sizes of hackles on it, mine was just over £6, very good quality.

Get yourself a plain old hen cape instead of a cock cape for your wet flies, there are plenty of them about for not much money.

Just got back from a trip up to John Norris. I got a Turrall dyed black chinese cock neck for £5.99 - soft enough for wets IMO. £5.99.
(I only picked it up because it had £2.99 on it - mispriced - thought about arguing the toss, but they are a decent lot in there so stumped up the extra £3 and winged about it all the way home)

Ended up getting a cheap cock and a cheap hen cape, love tying with hen just seems to make the fly look more alive. Paid 10 quid for both (5.99 for cock 3.99 for hen)

Cheers for the advice guys
